 poor man and rich man

A poor cobbler and a rich merchant, both were neighbours. There was a small shop selling shoes and slippers in the cobbler's house. While working, he would often start singing in pleasure. He was a very decidedly jolly man. He never felt the need to close the doors and windows of his house. He worships God at night and sleeps soundly.

The rich man looked with envy at this poor, cheerful cobbler. Despite being poor, that cobbler was not worried about anything. While the rich man was troubled by various kinds of worries. Let alone singing, he could not even laugh openly. He was always worried about the safety of himself and his money. At night he used to close all the doors and windows of his house. Still, he could not sleep peacefully.

One day the rich man called the cobbler to his house. He gave him five thousand rupees and said, “Take, keep this money. Consider them your own money. I do not need to return this money. At first the poor man was very happy after getting so much money, but soon this money created disturbance in his peaceful and carefree life. On getting the money, for the first time in his life, he closed the doors and windows of his house and cracked them. He woke up several times during the night to see if the money was safe.

Next day early in the morning the poor cobbler reached his rich neighbor's house. Returning five thousand rupees to the merchant, he said with folded hands, “Sethji, please take back this money of yours. This money gave me sleepless nights. I forgot all about laughing and singing.
