The soldier continued, “He was badly injured in the war. He stepped on a landmine and lost his arm and leg in it. He has no place where he can go, so I want to bring him to live with me."
Hearing this, his mother said, “Son! We are very sorry to learn about your friend. Maybe we can find a place for him to stay.” “No, mother! I want him to be with us."
But son!" Now the father said, “You don't understand what you are asking for? What a huge burden such a handicapped person would be for us. We have our own life to live and we do not want any such situation to interfere in our life. According to me you should come home alone and leave your friend there. He will find some way or the other to live his life.
Hearing that the soldier hung up the phone. A few days later, his parents received a message from the San Francisco police. In which he was told that his son had died after falling from a building. According to the police, it was a suicide case.
The grieving parents immediately booked a flight to San Francisco and reached there. There he was taken to the city morgue so that he could identify his son. They recognized him, but were shocked to see that their son had only one arm and one leg.
Friends, the parents in this story are like many of us, who give utmost importance to their facilities. They want to love or be with or spend time with people who are good looking, healthy or who they enjoy being around. They do not like people who are not healthy, beautiful or smart looking or with whom they cannot have fun or who are inconvenient to them in any way.
They keep distance from such people. But sometimes due to this behavior, such situations arise in front of them, when they have to repent. Let's accept people as they are and help them when they need it.
